Poem by my 9 year old DS using words from vocabulary list in Wordly Wise. He chose to write a poem instead of a paragraph.

The bolded words are the words from his vocabulary list.

ETA: it took him a few hours of work (with multiple rough drafts to get it done).

Spring is Here!

The sun shines cordially through the whispering trees
Singing through pine and oak are the busy bees
The branches earnestly dance a welcome to the warm breeze
Genuine joy since the air does not freeze.

Little bunnies hop and bounce on meadows
The ducklings commence swimming in the lakes
Exhilaration as the drought breaks
With the first drops of welcome rains.

Longer days elicit plants to sparkle and bloom
Even a skeptic gives up his anguished gloom
The beautiful flowers have manipulated him to leave his room
Because in spring, he cannot resist the flower’s perfume!

Lovely! His poem describes the world outside our house perfectly.

Wow! He did an excellent job! I love your idea of using vocabulary words to compose poetry.
