workingmom
DS is a junior and I saw this http://www.commonapp.org/whats-appening/application-updates/common-application-announces-2017-2018-essay-prompts Does this mean for next year's seniors these are the essays? How does that work. Do all or pick one or two? I've been keeping up with course descriptions and transcripts yearly but i'm guessing I don't load anything into common app until it open up for the 2017 year right? Does anyone have any webinar/video summary for homeschool parents/counselors to understand the common app. Our plan was to work on essays in the summer so we would be ready to plug and go once it became live in the Fall. I guess there is no scanning in your homeschool transcripts but rather inputing it into their transcript menu/table?
Julie of KY
You pick one personal essay for the common app. Many schools will have one or more supplemental essays that might be about anything the school chooses. You don't have access to these questions until you open the common app and input that school. I think there are some videos on the common app site but I might be making that up. I got most of my information here on WTMB. As the counselor you upload a pdf of your transcript and your counselor letter as well as school profile. This allows you to format it anyway you wish and put anything on it. It also gives you space to upload four transcripts. I uploaded my homeschool transcript as #1 and then my course descriptions as transcript #2. Some of the counselor questions are repetitive of information elsewhere and I just would state see course descriptions, etc.
workingmom
Thanks Julie, Any recs on how to format a school profile (ie first person, third person) things to include (and not). Also for the transcript. I have a "master" homeschool one that contains his community college classes and public school clases (he's part time enrolled so can take two a year at the public school) should those also be upload from my end to verify those particular classes? Any check list for parent counselors?
