mommyoffive
Have others done country hopping in Europe? When you take the cheap flights from country to country do you have to get there the 2 hours early like international flights? Do you have to go through customs every time? Arrival at airports is still usually 2 hrs, sometimes 90 minutes. I have been on flights that you could arrive later but they were always tiny one or two room rural airports. Edited. Because I got it wrong. Edited April 28, 2017 by lailasmum
Bootsie
Arrival at airports is still usually 2 hrs, sometimes 90 minutes. I have been on flights that you could arrive later but they were always tiny one or two room rural airports. Some countries are in an agreement (Schengen area)that means you don't have to go through customs when you move from one to another, some aren't. There's also an agreement within the UK and Ireland. But some customs/ID checks get put back on with the stuff that's been going on in Europe recently. So customs will depend on which countries and in what order you travel. I don't think Schengen country membership impacts customs, it deals with immigration. Customs duties have been eliminated in movement between countries that are members of the European Union. If you visit a country outside of the European Union (for example, Switzerland) you still have customs. Generally, customs is more streamlined in Europe than in the US. As far as the amount of time you need to allow for arrival at the airport will vary widely depending upon the size and efficiency of the airport and current terrorist threats.
