LauraBeth475
The memory work post made me wonder. Is anyone aware of a secular (or more ecumenical) memory work program?
maize
Not a program, no, but you can put together your own fairly painlessly. I took a three ring binder and set aside sections for science, math, history, poetry, foreign language, etc. We also have a religious section because we are a religious family, but everything else was secular. We like to sing our memory work and make up a lot of our own songs about things like the periodic table or historical events. Sometimes we use nursery rhyme tunes or tunes of other songs we know. You can also find videos on YouTube with various stuff put to music, books on Amazon with mnemonics and memory aids, and other resources. Geography Songs is one that we enjoyed.

Monica_in_Switzerland
Creek Edge Press has a memory work program, similar to the religious ones. Recitation and Enrichment
LauraBeth475
Thanks. I think I will start assembling a notebook. I was kind of hoping there would be a program similar to CC, but a little broader in appeal.

We do this, minus the three-ring binder. I've always had all the parts separate with their subject. But I LOVE the idea of organizing it all together and having it in one place. Thank you!
Slache
Living Memory is AWESOME! It's Christian, but assumes an old earth timeline. The download is $15 and I believe you will be very pleased with it.
Chris in VA
Agreeing with Slache. There is a very wide selection in the book, (which does include non-secular items) and I happen to have two copies! lol
73349
We've pulled from Ben Franklin quotations, common sayings (Google "English proverbs"), poetry books (my favorite is Poems to Learn By Heart, ISBN 978-1423108054; Emily Dickinson has some nice short ones as well), etc. Feel free to take from my spreadsheet (in signature) anything that suits you. rainbowmama
I like the poetry selections Mensa Kids had in "A Year Living Poetically" or something like that

Honestly, we just used math, science, maps each week and I found it worth it.
