Janeway
LOL..we are at that lovely phase where he knows everything, but, we offend him ever so often. <deep sigh> Oh well, at least someone in this house knows everything. Maybe HE can be the one to get a job then...hmmm....
Mabelen
Yes, we have one that goes from knowing everything and anything we say or do is offensive to feeling and behaving like a helpless little child from one minute to the next. Lovely phase indeed!

catz
LOL - of course he does. Duh! Stop being so annoying! I have a 16 year old and an almost 13 year old. That younger one right now is quite interesting.

Guest
I spotted a bumper sticker once that said: HIRE A TEEN they know everything!
Pink and Green Mom
I'm in the same place. Mine will argue about the most stupid, most mundane junk. And woe unto him who dares to ask "how was your day." Edited April 28, 2017 by Pink and Green Mom
Kareni
I'm reminded of the quote by Mark Twain: “When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.†Regards, Kareni
Alessandra
I saw a sign in a municipal office. I took a photo of it. TEENAGERS Tired of Being Harassed by Your Parents? ACT NOW! hopskipjump
LOL!! Our 14yo ds is fine. It's my college-aged daughter. Omg! 🙄 She didn't go through the typical/annoying teenage phases while she was a young teen. Apparently she saved it all up for her late-teen/early adult years. Funnnnnn. Summer's going to be... interesting... when she's back home... 😄 She's so used to her independence at college... Since she knows everything, I'm hoping I can just bite my tongue and carry on... lol

I counted up all the years I've gone through this and I've been the village idiot to my teen/college kids since 2001. One of the joys of having a large family. bethben
My 16 year old also knows everything. Drives my husband up the wall. I can mostly ignore it. He can enjoy the road of cluelessness for now. Reality will hit him soon enough.

Katy
If it helps, I find the know everything stage is the perfect time to start giving them college level coursework. It tends to make it quite obvious that they know nothing rather quickly.
KungFuPanda
I don't miss that. I found that phase lasted 2 years. This too shall pass . . .
Jaybee
My sixth child (13yo ds) came into the room while I was reading these yesterday. So I read them to him. He thought it was hilarious. We'll see if he recognizes himself in it if/when he goes through it. (I say if because though they all went through it to some extent, with some it was much more bearable!)
knoxinsox
My almost 12 year old wants to engage me over and over in an argument over the pronunciation of MOANA. Dear Lord, have mercy. We have started this too early. He alone is right....above me, friends, who have seen the movie and dictionary.com.
Audrey
When my son went through that stage I told him to enjoy being a know-it-all because in a few short years, he would be just as stupid as the rest of us. He didn't think that was funny. I thought his reaction was hilarious. I mean... if they're going to act like that, why not have a little fun with it, eh?
bzymom
I used to have a little pottery "urn" on a magnet on my frig. On the front it said "Ashes of Obnoxious Teenagers". I loved it quite a bit.

I am reminded of lyrics from a Kelly Clarkson song, 'so what you got the world at your feet and you know everything about everything.' Um, no. No you don't. Scarlett
My favorite thing recently was my ds17 bemoaning the stupidity of History. He said, 'like, mom, do you know what the Sherman Anti trust law is about?' His point was that no one knows, no one cares, it means nothing. Well. It so happens I do. I spouted off a summary and the look on his face will carry me for a few years.
