leeannpal
If you have a student who has dual enrolled, what ACT/SAT score did they need to get into the program? I am located in central Florida and will check with the local college as well. I just wanted to have a ball park figure in mind. teachermom2834
Here it is 18 for cc and 19 for local Christian U. To enroll in more than one course the first semester requires a 21. Individual courses may have higher requirements.
momofjep
Our local CC is 480 Reading and 530 Math
charlotteb
Both of my kids who have done dual enrollment, have not needed to give their SAT scores. They took the Compass test at the college to determine their placement. The academic advisor did say that the Compass test is put out by the same people who do the ACT Test, so that score could be used as a replacement for the Compass test. Neither of my kids have taken the ACT, just the SAT though
GailV
Local private christian college -- ACT of 18 on English portion in order to take regular English classes (remedial class doesn't require an ACT score), ACT of 19 on Math portion to take College Algebra and above. Other classes on list of eligible dual enrollment classes don't mention any ACT requirements. No mention of SAT scores for anything. Community college -- math ACT 22, SAT 580; reading-writing ACT 18 composite, SAT 500. Can take a placement test in lieu of these scores. Matryoshka
Our CC doesn't require ACT or SAT for DE, just Accuplacer, and that's only for certain classes with English or Math pre/co-reqs. marbel
Our CC uses the SAT or ACT only to exempt students from placement testing. I don't think my daughter had taken either test when she started dual enrollment; she certainly didn't need the scores.
katilac
At the local university, 18 in English, 19 in math. If you score higher in math, you can take a higher level class.
Arcadia
Only one of my local community colleges take ACT scores and that is as an alternative math placement test. None takes SAT scores. The one that takes ACT scores for math takes the SAT math subject test scores. All the other local community colleges require placement tests for English and Math and sometimes Chemistry. "American College Testing (ACT) Mathematics 23 or above ... You are clear to take Math 1, 2, 8, 10, 12, D, G College Board (SAT) Mathematics (Level 1 or 2) 550 or above ... You are clear to take Math 1, 2, 8, 10, 12, D, G"
foxbridgeacademy
Here it's 19 for CC but you have to get a 21 or 22 to get the grant that pays for DE. The student can take the Compass but then no grant.
JenneinCA
The ACT scores weren't necessary for my kids, but it did work instead of taking the placement tests.
TN Mama
Our local CC requires composite scores of 21 for juniors and 19 for seniors. There is also a local Christian 4 year school that does not require ACT scores for DE.
chiguirre
1050 SAT for regular classes, 1150 for honors college but you can take an alternative admission test (the THEA which is a Texas thing I think) for free the first time and cheap if you need to retest. Donna
My dd did not need any SAT or ACT score. She only had to take their admission/placement test.
FriedClams
One school required a 25, one a 31. No joke. Both are state schools, but 4 year colleges, not CC.
Pink and Green Mom
I live in Pinellas County, FL and my son attends a private high school. I can tell you what his paperwork from school says about dual enrollment at St. Pete College. Hopefully that can help you a bit. For Composition I and 2 and American History 1 and 2, they need an ACT Reading Score of 19 or higher, or an SAT score of 440 or higher, or a PERT Reading of 106 or higher and a writing on 99 or higher. For college Algebra and Trig, it says N/A for ACT and SAT scores, and for PERT score it says "college level math subtest 123+" ETA: of course the 2017/18 paperwork came out today and the requirements for math have changed. It now says an ACT math score of 19 or higher, an SAT score of 440 or higher, or a PERT Math score of 114 higher. Dmmetler
Not needed if you are a junior or above, only used for placement, 21 required for the state DE grant. Four year state U and private colleges require a 21 or equivalent (and lower tuition such that it is covered completely by the state DE grant). For the CC and state U, before junior year you can apply as a non-degree seeking student and pay out of pocket. I don't know what the minimum SAT/ACT are (nothing is published), only that both happily accepted my DD as a 6th/7th grader with scores above the DE minimum. One CC in the neighboring state publishes a required minimum of 26 for a similar program but that is to enter as a matriculated student.
