Sarah0000
DS5 loves Captain Underpants and has been devouring them. What else is similar in terms of reading level and especially graphics. He loves the Flip o Ramas and comic books in those books. It doesn't have to be silly. He enjoys a lot of other types of books but only as buddy reading or strictly read alouds. I think the break up of pages of text with the graphic reading encourages him to read more by himself.
maize
Not like Captain Underpants, but the Kingdom of Wrenly books have frequent and beautiful illustrations. Dragonmasters is another nice series.

Julie Smith
I'm assuming you have done the other series by Dav Pilkey. The French title is, "Ricky Ricotta et son Robot Géant". If you want something even simpler than the ones you listed, try, "Boy vs. Beast".

Sarah0000
Thanks. I will check these out from the library and see which are hits. I definitely need to start stocking a chapter book selection here at home.
Cake and Pi
In addition to what's mentioned above, you could try graphic novels. There's a whole series about mythology (Graphic Myths and Legends) that my DS#2 devoured soon after Captain Underpants. Some are a bit, er, graphic, so you might want to look through them before giving your kid free reign. My DS#2 was fine with them at 6yo, but sensitivity to such things varies from kid to kid. Mom27kidz
Memoriapress.com has a "picture books" read aloud package for grades K-4. You could check out what they have and just order the individual books you want.
