mamakelly
I can't for the life of me remember how early I sent graduation party invites out for my oldest son. My middle son is graduating (YAY!) June 17th and we will be having an open house all afternoon/evening for him. I want to send it out early enough, but not too early. I'm already getting "save the date" type emails for other kids graduation parties, eek! Is 2.5 months too early lol?
Anne in CA
I think we did a month in advance. Most people who came to my open house were doing a lot of them that day so I think they would have squeezed us in if I had been less disorganized. Guest
Miss Manners says 6 weeks is the earliest acceptable time for a party invite. :0) I think.
FaithManor
We did eight weeks in advance because we had some out of town folks that needed extra time to plan. If everyone is local and already has an idea of the timing, then a month is plenty of time.
Rebel Yell
Immediately after the date is confirmed for very close family or friends who would have to make special arrangements to miss work and travel. Six weeks or so for everyone else.
JFSinIL
I agree with Rebel Yell - you want to be sure folks will be able to come if they really want to. I love that folks do open house long parties for graduations, since many attendees can then fit in two or three parties if they know that many graduates.
goldberry
I sent my out of town ones already for an end of May date. Local ones I was planning 4-6 weeks.
J-rap
In our town it was about a month early, but then everyone knew ahead of time that that was when all the grad parties would take place. If you're sending it to out-of town guests who don't know about it yet, you can certainly send them a short email telling them about it now, and then send the invites 4-6 weeks early. We had two out-of-town weddings (basically, all of our children's weddings so far :)), and always emailed -- months earlier -- family and friends who we knew might want to make the big effort to come. kewb
I sent she the date to family in January because the party's Memorial Day weekend. Otherwise, I would have done the standard 6 weeks out
