We are gearing up to start WWS1. I need to purchase a binder to set up my daughter's writing notebook. I am wondering what size would be best. Any recommendations?

Thank you!

If you are planning to have her use the binder for WWS only, then a 1 1/2 inch binder will be large enough.  My daughter used a 1 1/2 inch binder for WWS 1.  This year she is using a 3 inch binder where she keeps all of her language arts work (writing, word study, grammar, etc.) and we place all of the reference charts she creates with WWS in a 3-prong folder. When she works on an assignment all she takes with her is the WWS workbook, loose leaf paper, and the folder with the reference pages/charts. Let me know if you'd like for me to attach a picture of her notebook.  Hope this helps.

We use a 3" binder but I have the e-book copy of WWS1 in there with the looseleaf paper and all the charts and a divider with a folder for her references. I'm thinking that a 1 and 1/2" would be enough for all the assignments, charts and the reference section for the topos reminders.

The notebook with everything organized and at dd's fingertips has been really helpful and like pp above, she can easily grab it when she wants to check on how to do a topoi when we're working on a history/science paper.

Thank you! I recently purchased the book, but need to take a closer look to find the charts that you both mentioned. 😊

The charts I was referring to are in the Appendix in the kids' WWS book. Things like a distance/space words list for use in descriptions of a place...it's all listed within the lesson where to find it. I make copies of them so we can have them in with the reference section (just our preference) and to be able to pull out the sheets when writing instead of flipping back and forth in the book.

I'm trying to upload images of the notebook we use but I keep getting a message that says the file is too big to upload.  Any suggestions?

Can you upload it to your Google drive or DropBox and share the link here? I'd like to look at it, too.

Mine did fine with a 1" binder, but that was just for one year. If you build on it with WWS2, I'd upsize the following year & just move the sheets along. If you only keep the reference sheets, you should be able to get by with the 1" each year.

I just realized I have several messages on my gmail account requesting access to this file.  I'm new to google drive and I don't really use my gmail account so I apologize for not making this accessible sooner. Here is my second attempt to make these files public. The link to view images of my daughter's Language Arts binder is below.  Hope this works. :confused1:
