It is beautiful! And I want your landscape artist!

It was the builder's home so he tricked the house out completely. It has beautiful stone walls and the landscaping always has something in bloom. There is a back walkway is lined with about 10 hydrangea bushes and gorgeous flowering trees in the front. We had taken pictures one spring just in case we sold in the winter so we could at least showcase the landscaping.

The house should make some family very happy.

About 30 minutes outside of Boston on the South Shore (so it's about 30 minutes from Cape Cod - great location) Right now it is priced at $879,000

Oh man, too bad we can't move from VT right now because the Carver area (which I think is very close to you) is one of my top areas I'd love to move to!

I moved out a year ago. My husband still lives there but I think he spends most of his time at his new chickies house. We have been slowly clearing and decluttering everything. Everything is pretty much out by now.

Gotcha!

Ooh, this is very nice.  Do you have a link to the actual listing?  We are in the market for a home close to Boston -- although we have been looking more to the North.

ETA -- I'm sorry.  I just realized you can't post a link for privacy reasons.  It is a beautiful house, and I love how it has a center chimney and so many custom details.  I'm sure it will sell very quickly.

I hope it sells quickly for you!

Gotta admit though, I'm really unused to seeing the prices on houses in HCOL areas... any house selling for that price around here... well, I'm not sure there are any at that price!  Ok, I just googled.  There are some 500K places in a lake front community nearby, but in general 400s are as high as we go and the average listing price in our area is very near 200K.

It's amazing how different house prices are across our country!

Nonetheless - wishing you a speedy sale!

It is pretty amazing.  Real estate in the area near Home'scool is generally crazy expensive. Check out this link!  For a parking space! (and that was four years ago.)  Her beautiful house is a steal! :)

And if her house were in San Francisco or Vancouver or NYC... imagine the price then... talk about a steal!

It definitely makes it easier to understand how folks with similar salaries/incomes don't have as much money for other things (thinking college or travel or whatever else comes up in threads) in some areas as others - though I suppose the trade off is more equity built up if/when one sells - a savings account of sorts if one chooses to sell or get a reverse mortgage or something later in life.

It also makes it easier to understand how some are priced out of ownership entirely in HCOL areas.

Just musing - the bottom line is I hope the house sells soon for the OP.  It certainly is a nice one.

It is interesting, but salaries are also interesting.  We took a HUGE cut to move from CA to NC.  Like not only did DH take almost a 40% cut, but then I stopped working.  It was tight for a while.

He is now back up (12 years later) and with several promotions, back up to his CA salary.  But moving back would net us a lot more since he has moved up the ladder.

For me, I am currently making a bit over half of what I made in CA.

We are looking at moving back next year.  We know we will get about half the house for about twice the price (of our current house) but our salaries will be better, so we should be ok.

If my house was on the market in the town I work in the price would be closer to one million. So much depends on the zip code!

The town where the house is is a very nice town, it is just 20 minutes further outside of Boston than the more expensive towns. That makes a difference in the price. The commute can be hell. Also, it is in a very large subdivision with other houses for sale so there is some competition there.

The price is probably a bit low but I want a fast sale. We have enough equity and it is time I have my life back!

Had our first open house this weekend. People came through both days even though Saturday was a rainy, sleety mess.

We got the usual mix of good and bad feedback. Getting the bad feedback makes me so anxious! It's only been on the market for a week but right away I start fretting that the house will never sell.

I hate selling a house! People come through and examine every little thing - as I do when I am the buyer - but it just makes me nervous that there will never be anyone happy enough with the house.

I know, it IS very nerve-wracking. I hate selling a house. I've done it four times, and it doesn't get any easier. It's hard on the nerves no matter what!
