38carrots
Line by line suggestions on what to say when you are put into awkward situations in a conversation to diffuse the situation. Sort of like a collection of "if-then" bean sauces?
Jaybee
I don't know, but that sounds like an awesome idea for a book (written by a creative WTMer)!

JumpyTheFrog
I would also be interested in a book of scripts for various situations.
38carrots
I'm sorry for whatever situation prompted this post. Thank you. Nothing in particular, at least nothing resent, but even though I'm getting better, I'm still not good at thinking on my feet.
rebbyribs
It sounds like you mean a book for adults, but your post reminded me of What Do You Say, Dear? https://www.amazon.com/What-Do-You-Say-Dear/dp/0064431126

38carrots
I have to come here for those situations. Y'all just helped me with one yesterday! :) Ha ha, me too! I'd like to have some rules to internalize. I'm coming to the conclusion that saying "Is it so?" or an equievalent could work for most situations. Maybe we need to create our own book of WTM wisdom for the socially awkward.
laundrycrisis
This is more career-oriented, but it's a really good book. https://www.amazon.com/What-Ask-When-Dont-Know/dp/1567311903 I wonder if you might find something by searching for social skills books for teens or adults who have Aspergers or are otherwise on the spectrum. They benefit from having scripts to follow for all kinds of social situations. Edited March 24, 2017 by laundrycrisis
