MrSmith
My son picks up math pretty quick and he's done their PreA and and wrapping up the Intro A soon. He says he wants more algebra but I want to get some geo in. Would we be crazy to try it? If not, how might we go about it?
Mike in SA
What age? What other workload? It's not crazy, but it may be unrealistic depending on other commitments. Or, if he's only doing 5 other courses, then the two could be relatively easy to fit in together.
kiana
It's also going to depend on how long you're willing to take. Like, if you're planning on scheduling both books over a couple of years, that's probably a great idea, and a lot of people have done geo/alg 2 with various curricula. If you're planning on getting both done within a year, that could be unreasonably ambitious.
Julie of KY
It's not what most people have done, but I certainly have. Both my boys did AoPS Geometry alongside the AoPS Algebra book. We'd do one chapter of one and then one of the other. My daughter has a much harder time with the algebra skills. She did the first several chapters of the geometry book while doing AoPS Prealgebra. She will continue the geometry book while doing algebra next year. You do need a level of algebra understanding to be able to do the geometry book and occationally there is a problem that requires quadratics in the geometry, but generally they can be combined. I showed this to my son and he said "hmm, for some reason 'unreasonably ambitious' sounds suspciously like 'crazy'." Although adding another book wouldn't be overload, we've decided I only get to torture him one book at a time. Maybe when he's halfway through Geo I can try again...
