Good morning, all!

In the Lounge today, we have oodles of grapes (both dh and I bought about two lbs worth on the same day!), some mangos, honeycrisp apples, some pears, etc. Help yourself! Later I may make some gf zucchini bread.

Anyone doing any family camps this summer? Here: found out yesterday that the ministry that does dd's horsemanship lessons also does a free family camp in the early summer. I think we just might go to that!

Does anyone else ride horses? (don't remember if I asked before) Here: I grew up riding quite a bit with friends of the family who owned horses. Many, many summers spent camping and riding.

Anyone own a horse(s)? Here: my daughter would LOVE to! Maybe someday we can figure out how to do that!

Talk to me! :bigear:

No family camping. But we will be spending three days in the Sleeping Bear Dunes area - condo.

A week in Albany with dear grandson too.

I ride horses.

I used to own one. Boarding costs were killer, and she needed more time than I ad so I gave her to my horse trainer. She is a therapy horse now.

I love it when you throw out special topics for your lounge!

I ride, but not much because I can't afford to (and the pain afterwards is bad!). My dd LOVES horses and rides fairly regularly. She just finished an internship at an equine centre. It included a lot of poo slinging.

I'm feeling a bit left out in today's topics.

No family camp for us, but ds is going to a Christian camp for a week for the first time this summer.

I don't ride horses and don't own any. I'm actually afraid of most animals bigger than me, and I'm afraid of dogs until I get to know them and they seem good-natured.

Hey Scrap!

A chilly, sunny spring day here.

No family camp for us because the ones I know of are cost prohibitive and bc we are saving for a fall vacation.

Dd will go on a 5 day mission trip/ work project with her youth group. Ds will go to scout camp.

My Dd loves horses and would love to ride every week. As it is, we can do some lessons for her in the spring and fall. Riding is $$$ and not close to home. She has other extra curriculars which she and we are not willing to sacrifice for horses.

Dd would like to own land and have horses. Maybe she will some day!

Family camps: Nope, never done one and no plans to do so, although it sounds like it could be fun (as long as there is air conditioning and indoor plumbing)!

Riding: Yes, I grew up riding and now two of my kids ride, too. Our riding arena is getting graded in preparation for spring as I type this!  :001_smile: We do lots of trail riding, which is so much fun. There is nothing better than being on horseback on a beautiful day.

Horses: Yep, six of them. Scrap, I hope your daughter gets her horse someday soon. You should get one, too!

No family camps.

I don't ride, but my daughter does. She rides competively (English). We own 3 horses, but we half-lease one of them out to someone at the barn. One of the other 2 horses is her equitation horse and the other one is her hunter. She shows them many weekends of the year.

No family camps for us.  We've never done one before, but that sounds fun!

I've only been on organized trail rides so far so I don't really consider that riding.  I'm also 35 weeks pregnant so I can't ride now anyway.  I'm looking forward to riding in a couple months!

We do have two horses....both paint mares.  We've only had them less than a month right now though.  My almost 12yo dd rides and they are "her" horses.  We had planned to only get one, but we ended up with two.  LOL!

Not sure yet about family camp or not (never done one, but I've considered it). The kids will do a week at a YMCA camp - it will be Broccoli's first time... 6 nights! (he has slept away from home before, but never a week long camp). It'll be Celery's 4th summer at that camp, and he loves it, so that should be good. They won't be in the same cabin (for 2 reasons - the age gap and the fact that I'm specifically requesting that they're not going to be in the same cabin - technically the age gap is small enough they *could* be in the same cabin, but they also like to put first-timers together). My wife wants to go camping somewhere too as a family, but I don't know when/where/etc.

I'm allergic to horses, and hay, etc, so, no horses for me. I might let Celery do horse camp next summer at the same place he's going this summer, but for insurance reasons you need to be 10, and the last week they offer horse camp is just before his 10th birthday, so, anyway.

No family camp for us this year. 😕

I don't ride, but want to. My daughter rides and takes weekly lessons. She participates in a few shows when the weather is good.

We own two ponies (I'm too heavy to ride them). They are a ton of fun to have but also a lot of work. We are incredibly blessed to have them! Our plan is to sell the two ponies and get a horse....but....not sure how that is all going to work out since my DD is completely and utterly in love with both of them. She's getting taller by the day so at some point she won't be able to ride them anymore...

Forgot a few horse--little red roan mare that a neighbor bought as a bottle baby for $50--neighbor thought I need a project. Trained her and sold her--nice little mare. And then had grulla Appaloosa. I've never seen that combination anywhere else. He was a line-back with zebra-striped legs. The dorsal stripe disappeared in his blanket. I'm sure we've had a few more horses that I'm forgetting.

Margaret, I would love to have seen your grulla Appaloosa. The combination of spots and stripes must have been pretty wild looking! I just love the color and markings of grullas and duns. We have one of each. They both have dorsal stripes and the dun has zebra-striped legs and faint lines on his neck, too.

It was fun reading about all the horses you've had over the years.  :001_smile:
