And I meant to say earlier that I'm reading and bookmarking a lot of the resources you've shared, and I appreciate that you've done so. I haven't commented much because it's all a lot to take in, and I'm still figuring out what resonates for me, and what is relevant to DS.

I wasn't sure if you wanted the report to reflect that you son is doing well at home for reassurance or if you are concerned they might suggest he attend school! In any case, I found this article you might find useful:

I'm sorry some of the quotes and links appear disjointed. Copyright laws prohibit me from quoting everything I would like to. Also, I have typed most of the posts on a tablet and it isn't as easy to go back and forth without losing the post. If you read Temple Grandin's *The Way I See It* a lot more will make sense to you. While some of the quotes appear to apply to younger children, the main approach still applies to older children as well. Engage them in the real world, give them real life experiences, surround them with supportive people and let them learn social interactions in real life, with real people. Obviously, those that prefer using therapies and social skills materials will do that instead. I'm just letting you know that there are other ways you can go about doing things. It's up to you as a parent to decide what fits you and your son.

Pegs, I wanted to add here that I prefer my kids be corrected by the world sometimes. The world is not a happy friendly place, especially for those that don't fit the paradigm. The sooner my kids learn that, the better. It is something I work on. They can learn to distinguish between those that accept them for who they are and also learn what is not acceptable socially. It's how we learn how to live in this world as functional members and also helps shape perceptions towards those with special needs/ differences, for our kids sake and for the sake of future generations.

I am very happy with the recommendations, and a little taken aback by some of the findings. On the whole it's close to what I was expecting, but there are also a few lines which made me go, "Oh. Golly." (But I might have cursed, just quietly.)

 

Anyhow.

 

You all know that he ATE A SANDWICH, right? I'm holding on to this one!
