NewIma
We have read the Laura Ingalls Wilders series, the Birchbark House series, the All of a Kind Family series, and are just starting on Tomie Depaola's 26 Fairmount Ave. series. When we finish 26 Fairmount Avenue I would like to read a historical (fiction or not) series about an African American or Latina family or a family that is Muslim or Hindu or Buddhist. Basically. I am looking for diverse book series for kids! My kids are 6 and 10 but book suggestions for any age group are appreciated! Thank you in advance for your help! I recommend the Gaither Sister Series by Rita Williams-Garcia: https://www.amazon.com/gp/bookseries/B00SNHTFG2/ref=dp_st_0060760907
Tanaqui
Seconding Vonfirmath's suggestion. Other ideas: Chains Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry (not sure if this is the first or not, it's the only one whose title I remember) Year of the Dog The Mighty Miss Malone (it's got a companion novel) The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate (now at two books) Bo at Ballard Creek (main character is presumably white, but one of the two men raising her is black and there are several other non-white characters) A Jar of Dreams (again, not sure this is the first one) The Golden Mountain Chronicles Octavian Nothing Dash (this is one of a series of books featuring kids with dogs in WWII. Two of them thus far feature non-white characters) The Arabus Family Saga The Breadwinner On Two Feet and Wings (there is a planned sequel that hasn't been written yet) Journey to America A Faraway Island Titles in BOLD are probably suited for an older age range. Titles in ITALICS are probably most suited for this age range. The other titles are sorta in the middle depending on how sensitive you think your younger kid is. If you're interested in books that aren't series, I can rattle off a few dozen more

Tanaqui
Okay, I'll try to get one up later. Question: Are you also interested in diverse books set in the present and/or fantasy/science fiction? Or picture books, historical or otherwise?
