kfeusse
I am thinking about doing Cultural Geography with my 8th grader next year. I would like to know what my options are: I know about BJU (but it's for 9th graders and I think the text is too hard for my kid). I also looked at MFW....but unless I am missing something, there is no student text and the teacher's guide is $125? (what is in that thing??...must be quite the book for that money). But those are the only 2. You guys are always so awesome in finding the hidden gems...what else is out there? thanks.

DragonFaerie
We're winging it for Cultural Geography for DS this year (8th). He's reading Material World and Hungry Planet and learning the countries using Shepard Software.
Happygrl
My daughter has been enjoying Simply Charlotte Mason's A Visit to...series. It uses Material World & Hungry Planet and combines map work with questions & reading from the book.

Aurelia
It's high school level, but I'm considering FundaFunda's geography course. Edited March 17, 2017 by Aurelia
HollyDay
We used PAC World Geography. I was impressed with how much cultural/economic/political as well as physical geography was presented. You can do the course as it is laid out in as little as 1 semester. We added more map work, music, food, literature, etc and made a very enjoyable year long study. Dd wrote a paper or two as well. We found quite a few resources at the library and of course I used the internet quite a bit. You don't have to do all that. You can take your time and this a full 1 year course on its own. We just had fun adding to it.

mom31257
I'm planning a world geography year for ds. I'm using Glencoe's World Geography and these plans which use GA's Virtual Learning shared resources. I've got some geography workbooks I'm going to through in. I'm still researching literature. We attend a co-op, which will have a lit class using a poetry/prose set from MP. That's going to limit our time on other lit just for home.
