You should always buy the teacher's manual. The first three grade levels are dependent on it. You are supposed to do the scripted oral class time with the children, and *then* give them their seatwork (worksheets for first and second grade, textbook for third grade). There is no instruction in the students materials for those grades. Some concepts are introduced for several lessons before they show up in the student materials.

The black lines sets come with an answer packet (not sure about the new 1st gr. program- I don't have the new one). They are a good supplement for your other program. Hope that hel

 

Yes, thank you so much!  I've had a really hard time finding something where I didn't have to buy the Teacher's Manual also (which then makes it not very affordable for a supplement).  We like our math program, my ds just needs a bit more practice.  I'll be getting these!  :)
