MamaBearTeacher
It suddenly started heating up very slowly and after an hour it still does not reach full temperature. It is 2.5 years old and not under warranty. Is there anything I should check/do before I call a repair person?
City Mouse
Is it gas or electric? And does it have a computer? If it has a computer, then try unplugging it from the wall, let it set for 5 min and plug back in to reset the computer. Caroline
If it is electric, you might be able to replace the heating element. My DH has done that on mine a couple of times.
MamaBearTeacher
it is electric. I assume it has a computer because everything is digital. I will try this. When it was installed they did not leave a manual. Ugh.

Caroline
Is it likely the heating element not working? My oven had those symptoms when the heating element was broken. I think my DH found a video on YouTube to see how to fix it. And he ordered the part online. My oven is probably 20+years old, though, and doesn't have a computer. EmilyGF
I changed my heating element in my oven. It was pretty simple and easy. I just watched you tube videos, ordered the piece, and did it for about $25 and 15 minutes. The heating element breaks easily and then it stops heating up. In a gas oven, the design is such that a broken heating element means that gas won't flow, thank goodness! Emily
EmilyGF
Google your oven make/model and problem and you'll probably find a whole forum discussing it. Generally, whatever the problems are, they usually happen to many people! Emily
