Slowly, slowly working our way through Arrow, will get back to the Flash (there's some cross-over at the beginning of the Flash).

A Series of Unfortunate Events

Murdoch Mysteries

Finished Continuum. :-)

Walking Dead

Star Trek (original series), as well as all of the offshoots (not loving Deep Space Nine); we're halfway through the last season.

Drop Dead Diva

iZombie

Ripper Street

Caught The Magicians season one, now dvr-ing second season on Sci-Fi channel.  Also watching Chef's Table, Charmed (my brainless fun).  Waiting for next season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to start, and Orphan Black wherever I can find it.

PBS on-line watching The Crown.

Wish there were more Foyle's War seasons to watch.

I also enjoy Supergirl, Grimm, and Agents of Shield.

Best new show of the year is Speechless, BTW.

I just started watching Trapped, an Icelandic mystery mostly subtitled.  I read about it on Nerdist so I'm giving it a whirl.  lol

Dh and I are thinking about going back to The Expanse which we never caught up with.

I started watching Trapped, too. I took a little break as the cold and winter hit a little too close to home. ;)  Murder in Paradise seems like a great alternative.

I just finished a one-season series called "Happy Valley" on Netflix.  Very definitely not child friendly, but it will keep you on the edge of your seat!  It's a BBC murder-mystery series.

There are two seasons of Happy Valley, each with 6 episodes. Both were very good!

Mindless teen drama:  Dance Academy.  Ensemble cast of Australian teens go to a boarding school which teaches classical ballet, somewhere near the Sydney Opera House.  Plots like - The school has removed all of the hip-hop classes in a return to a focus on ballet!  What to do?  I know, we'll hold our own hip-hop class!!!  Good while I'm sewing because - mindless teen drama.

What is the youngest age you would recommend for this?  Thanks

You might want to start with the books - they are delightful for the right kind of kid.  My sense, also, is that the show is more interesting to those who have read the books, but I'm usually multi-tasking when either listening to audio books or watching tv, so someone else might have a more accurate read on that.

I have been frustrated that Netflix doesn't seem to have great streaming movies. Is it because the are offering more tv series instead?

I cancelled Netflix for now, I will renew at the end of October when Stranger Things returns!

We are currently deep into The Blacklist.  It is so good!  It's smart & has kept us hooked for at least 3 seasons now.

Can't wait for Season 4.  Season 2 was kind of a drag, but season 3 got back on track!  Yay!

It makes me want to watch Boston Legal, just so I can get more James Spader (the girls is a total drip, I don't know why they don't write something good for her).

So an 8 year old who isn't bothered by things should be fine?  He has watched Avengers, Spiderman, etc.  I don't even know what Unfortunate Events is about, I just know my older son was asking if we could watch as a family.

In my opinion, I think it would be totally fine, especially if he's watched Avengers. I had no idea what it was about either (we've never read the books) but we really enjoyed it!

Longmire - finished the latest season the weekend it came out.

Stranger Things - love this

Shameless - yeah, not for kids, maybe not for adults either.

The Last Kingdom - England in the time of Alfred the Great, based upon a novel - perhaps teen friendly, depending upon your guidelines, age 16+

Penny Dreadful - dark, gothic horror, not for kids. Writing is excellent, particularly for the first season. Trying to get through season 2 as time permits

Norwegian movies - Ragnarok - this one is more child friendly, maybe 10-12 and up depending upon how they do scary.

In Order of Disappearance - like a Tarantino movie, but set in Norway - not for kids

The Last King - beautiful scenery: Medieval Norway

The Wave - classic disaster film, surprisingly well-done, plays on every trope, however in a likable way. Stars the Norwegian doppelganger of Norman Reedus.

Troll Hunter- scary fun, makes you think trolls might really exist.

The Last Kingdom - England in the time of Alfred the Great, based upon a novel - perhaps teen friendly, depending upon your guidelines, age 16+

Just finished Bones on Netflix.  It took me a few months to work through the seasons but finally made it through.  Worth the watch!!  Well done procedural.

Also on Netflix:

13 Hours and The Big Short--both intense and good flicks!

The Crown - Really liked, watched it when it first came out.

Drop Dead Diva - was fun to watch

House - tried but abandoned, guess I don't like hospital dramas--too much illness/death

Glee - also tried but abandoned, I don't mind light but it was too stupid for my tastes

Friday Night Lights & Heartland - watched a few years back and enjoyed them, if you're looking for other show ideas

Keeping up with Victoria on PBS Masterpiece...want to like it more than I do, but it's adequate.  Will watch Call the Midwife later.

Trying Man in the High Castle on Prime.  I've only watched one episode so we'll see.  I like to give any new-to-me show a few episodes to see how I like it.  The premise is very intriguing.

Should I be embarrassed to admit I've watched this one through twice?
