dsbrack
We are ready to purchase a dictionary and would like one that has Latin roots for our work in Latin for Children. Suggestions?
ElizabethB
I like the American Heritage college edition dictionary. It has Latin and Greek roots and has the diacritical marking explanations of the bottom of each page so you don't have to flip back and forth to the front to figure out a pronunciation. But, it is old, I got it in 1987, I am not so sure about current ones, if they are the same. I also have and like the 1828 Webster dictionary, it is interesting historically. I own about a dozen dictionaries... I like the diacritical marking for the American Heritage better than current Webster dictionaries, although I like the older Webster dictionaries. New management has slid since Noah Webster was in charge!
