No pain between periods--is that a reasonable expectation for endometriosis?

It seems like I hear a lot of women with endo having pain throughout their cycles, sort of managing it but never completely.  17yo was tentatively diagnosed today as long as she gets more relief once she has been on her birth control pills long enough.  But dd and I were surprised that the goal is to go from DAILY pain (not constant, but definitely daily) to only some discomfort during her period just from the pill.  No mention of pain medication--nothing over the counter has worked on that front anyway, or the one prescription our family doc gave her.

 

What is your experience/knowledge on this?  No regular pain seems like a pie in the sky hope considering how much discomfort she's been in for over a year now. But she IS pretty young.
