Way Too Happy About This Cat Box

I have two kitties.  We had typical covered catboxes, but one kitty always managed to stand in the box but pee straight out the opening getting on the floor.  :glare:  Even when peeing in the box, the pee would hit the walls and leak down into the crease where the top of the box meets the bottom, so that the box was always totally disgusting.  It was very difficult to clean that crease where pee and cat litter would accumulate.  Yuck.  In addition, there was litter scattering outside the box that would mix with the pee on the floor.   :ack2:

I finally tried this catbox.

Angels are singing in my house.  No pee outside the box.  No litter outside the box.  Pee that hits the side goes straight down into the litter and does not accumulate in any tiny creases.  After getting the first one and seeing how great it was, we bought a second.

After months, every so often we are still saying, "wow, I love the new cat box!"  Possibly sad how excited we are, but thought we would share for the benefit of other cat owners.  Pricey, but we have decided it was worth every dime.  You could also make one yourself if you were not too concerned about appearance.

So, since you have more than one kitty, the kitty outside the box doesn't climb up and then poke at bat at the kitty inside the box?  I can imagine a cat trying to go about his business, when suddenly blows rain upon him from above.

Our kitties do like to play/fight with each other every day.

Mine play fight but not around the litter box for some reason.

Also, I wondered if the cats would actually use it, it seems so strange, that is why we just got one.  Oddly enough, they took right to it with no problems.  If you read the reviews, most cats didn't have a problem, although a select few didn't like it.

I do know uncovered is best for some cats... just can't stand looking at litter. This works for us and the kitties though.

I am jealous of you all with normal cats. My guy won't use one with a hood, or lid ,or if he has to jump to get in. Bless his heart...

So sorry... I have a cat with kidney problems who refuses to switch to wet food.  I spent at least 2 months trying all the advice.  Finally realized, yes, the cat will outlast me.  That's kitties for ya!

I wonder if my girl would use this - she is quite messy. Is it much harder to scoop and stir?

No the lid is removable.  If I have one complaint it is that the cover fits on there maybe a bit too well.  So when they jump back out onto the cover they often track litter onto the lid (the lid is grooved).  Which is not a bad thing, but then when you go to remove the lid you can get litter onto the floor.  One way around that is to vacuum the lid first.

It's basically just a regular ole plastic bucket with a lid that has a hole.  Nothing all that profound really.

Well, I definitely will have to consider this. I wonder if my cat will get down into that hole. It's like climbing into the port-a-potty hole!

I was skeptical, but my kitties jumped right in like it was nothing unusual. I think they like that the box stays cleaner as well. I could not keep the other box as clean because of the creases where the top and bottom met. It seems much cleaner to me and less odor.

We've got 4 cats and *many boxes* including one of these boxes. The cats seem to use it fine. it's great!!! We have it in the home office where I really don't want litter scattered around. LOVE it!!

Same here.  I have another type.  The cats don't seem to have a preference.  Even my skittish cat that I assumed might not like it.  She doesn't seem to care.
