"fit bit" users...what is your step goal each day?

I don't have a "goal". I usually get to 10,000 on days I have lots of teaching, or on lighter work days if I go for a walk with DH after dinner. On weekend days, I get 15-20k when I hike ( 25-30k if it is a long hike). The most I ever had in a day was around 40k.

If I sit a lot at work and have no time to go for a walk, or if I just putter around the house, it may be only 6k on some days.

I'm pretty close to regentrude. Especially when the weather is nice I'm pretty good about getting 10,000-13,000 steps. If I'm not able to get out much (and I don't purposely exercise at home), I'm more in the 4,000-6,000 range. However, lately I've turned into a bump on a log. I've started upping my exercise, but I'm working out in the pool without my Fitbit.

Right now my goal is low -- 7K. Normally I'm about 11K.

I've been a super bum the last while and I'm working back up.

My recommendation for a new FitBit user is to NOT jump to a high # right away. Go a few days with just tracking your normal range. Then incrementally go up -- add 1000 steps to your average. So, if your average is 4000, up it to 5000. Work with that til you get it every day for a week -- 1000 steps is fairly doable, it's about 10 minutes of walking at a leisurely pace... that's park further away type stuff... Then, up it again and add a 10 minute walk to your day,  then extend that walk, etc... until you get up to a daily goal you're more comfortable with.

I don't have a fitbit but my Samsung watch has a health app (my phone has it too but I don't always have my phone on my person). I have 7000 steps as my goal. I plan to work up to 10,000 but I find it more motivating to start small and be successful.

My goal in the app is 6000 because that's the number I have trouble reaching on Sundays. Unofficially I aim for an average of 10,000 per day but find that difficult if I'm not intentional about going for a run, hike, or walk.

I wish the Fitbit app allowed more customization in step goals besides a daily goal. It would be nice to be able to set different goals for days I workout vs days I just putter around the house.

First week I just saw what my low was. Then I pick a number slightly higher than that. Once I hit that fairly consistently, then I upped it by 1000 (which might have been too much). Once I hit that consistently, I'll up it again.

Baby steps mean you can accomplish your goal without being overwhelmed. Why set your goal at 10,000 steps if you aren't even close and then feel bad and give it up because you can't make it? Figure out where you are, and start to work to improve that.

Just my two cents.

During winter my goal is 8500. I don't make it consistently.  It's too cold and slippery to walk outside and I don't get enough steps inside when I'm just doing housework.  I go to the gym about 4 times a week but I'm not doing things that accumulate lots of steps.  I have my bike on a trainer so that doesn't give me steps. I do Yoga with Adriene, but again...

Spring, summer, and fall I set my goal at 10,000 and usually reach it before dinnertime even though my main exercise is cycling.

Fitbit was great for tracking steps when I was mostly walking with dh but these days we're doing other things.  Well, except right now when it's winter and we're slugs.

I have my goal set at 10K. I definitely have to make a conscious effort to hit that. In the evenings, I will walk in my bedroom while I catch up on my dvr'd shows or watch YouTube.

I am trying to walk 2017 steps in 2017. :) That averages to about 5.5 miles a day which I hit when I get to 12K steps. It's January 18th and I'm on track so far. I will hit my first 100 miles tomorrow. :D

I really try not to go below 7500 steps per day unless I am sick or there is something else going on that prohibits me from moving.

I'm starting slow, so my goal is set at 8K which I hope to move up to 10K.  Days that I have lots of paperwork or driving I don't make it, but I didn't want anything too easy to achieve. I have stairs on mine and my goal is 20 flights (which isn't too hard since I live in a 2 story with a basement and forget things constantly.)
