1GirlTwinBoys
It's the little things that just wear me out! No idea what to do with the tree now.
UCF612
We had that happen last year. Oddly when we set out up this year some lights had returned but there is still a dark patch just not completely black anymore. And the tree has begun leaning to the left despite all attempts to fix it. We need a new one but it's not in the budget this year.
Garga
I don't know how to make those lights come back, but you can always toss on a string of lights for now.
The Girls' Mom
We have a pre-lit that only half the lights work. We threw on a string of lights...there is still a dark patch, but we ignore it..lol. I keep saying I'm going to buy a new one, but we've had a half-lit tree for 4 years now.
Acorn
I can't remember the exact name but a light zapper gun has saved 3 trees I know.
Ethel Mertz
Same thing happened here. Like others, we just threw on another string of lights. One thing we could do would be to take wire cutters (or whatever tool it is I'm thinking of) and remove the pre-lit lights from the tree. We got a new tree last year and it did not come with lights. I'd much rather put the lights on myself than deal with lights that refuse to work on a pre-lit tree.

SparklyUnicorn
This is my fear with buying one of those trees. Just one more layer of something that can go wrong with it. Then if I couldn't figure out how to fix it or find replacement lights I'd have to buy a new one!
MrsMommy
This happened to us years ago. I cut all the lights off the tree, and we've used it ever since. It took several hours to get the whole mess of lights off, though, so I really never want to buy a pre-lit tree again!

gardenmom5
we ended up taking the 'pre-lite' lights off and replacing them with leds last year. . . . .now, one the part of one section that sticks into another has broken off . . . . I may end up buying a new tree next year. (I'm getting a crown and approx $1300 in car repairs this month. not buying a tree.)
1GirlTwinBoys
Well I ended up taking off all the ornaments and just cutting the lights off. Thank goodness this is just a 4 1/2' tree because it took a long time. And of course I just flocked it myself several days ago so I had that white stuff going everywhere. Had to wear a mask and not to mention the mess all over the floor.
kitten18
See if this helps. I haven't tried it but I saved it in case it happens to me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkheUKfsOkQ&index=2&list=FLGbzhzuqAMpWzuZxen50bGQ that's a good video, and the other thing to try is the fuses. Most light stings (and trees) come with extra fuses.
Jyhwkmama
Go to the store and buy a Light Keeper Pro. Stat! It is amazing. There are YT videos that show you exactly how to use it.

Had to wear a mask and not to mention the mess all over the floor. We had sections of lights go out when our pre-lit tree was maybe 8-10 years old. It was a pain in the butt, but dh got the old strings off and put on new strings (still plugged into the tree's outlets, so still pre-lit--we don't have to put lights on every year). I think it took more than one Christmas to get all of the lights replaced, but it looks great and it's nice to keep these fake trees out of the landfill. BusyMom5
Ours has had problems the last few years. Yesterday I spent a good 2 hours clipping the lights off because I didn't want to spend even more hours checking lights and experimenting trying to find all the problems. The bottom 1/3 still works pretty well after my DH replaced 20+ lights, so we left it, but the other 2/3 we de-lighted and just put up strings of lights instead of continuing to replace light after light.
