Tally:

36 students

36 colleges or universities

Sorry, just a thought...I didn't count the no. of unis but I think there are fewer than 36 students with all the multiple acceptances. A happy problem actually! :001_smile: I don't know how anyone can keep track of no. of students when our students do so well with so many acceptances. That's definitely going to be a challenge as this list grows! :001_smile:

You are correct. I changed it to # of acceptances.  :D

She got into her reach, Kalamazoo College!

She is so excited about that.

However, the numbers are looking so good for Alma for her and we think it is an excellent fit. Our concern with Kalamazoo College, while a really great school, is of course affordability but more than that being next door to Western Michigan U. Our middle boy, honorary brother, is at WMU and well, she is just a bit on the emotionally needy side of things yet. Our fear is she will try to rely on him too much for support creating a difficult situation for him. We would be 3.5 hours away so not a quick trip, but half that distance to Alma so we could get there for more events, and show up once in a while to take her to lunch, be a sounding board.

Fingers crossed she chooses Alma.

I think I got everything. There are a couple of posts on the other thread about acceptances but I'm not sure how to list them.

If you want an acceptance included in this list but would rather not have certain info posted, let me know via PM. We can figure something out.

Maybe I missed this somewhere, are we supposed to PM you so the list can be updated?  Should we do this as acceptances come in or when all decisions are made?

Thanks for the clarification.

ETA:  By the way, thanks for doing this!  I loved watching the thread last year.  So exciting and nice to see where such a talented group of kiddos get in.

Good questions. I don't think you've missed anything.

Up to this point, I have been keeping track of acceptances that have been posted on the other thread and transferring that information to this thread. People have been posting acceptances as they come in (I think); there might be a separate Decisions thread later on as final decisions are made. If you have an acceptance you want posted, you can pm me or post in the other thread.

The reason I posted about PMing me is because there have been posts about a child being accepted to a dream school, a reach, or some other school (depending on the wording) but no specific information so I am unsure how to post that acceptance to this thread. I don't want to step on toes or include information that is incorrect so I left off those acceptances. I know in years past there were some WTMers who didn't want personal info out for all to see and some acceptances were listed with just the name of the school.

However you want to share is good with me. After all, it's your chance to share your child's success!

Sorry. That's how we've done it in the past. I'll not copy and paste again.

I didn't realize that it had been done that way before.

I guess what confused me is that the second time you copied and pasted you used a previous version of the list and none of the updates from the past 7-10 days were included so, in order to make sure there was still a comprehensive list, I had to merge the two.

I hope you didn't think I was chastising you. I'm just trying to make it easy for me to update and for others to see the overall acceptances and honors. :)  This really is an exciting thread and an impressive list.

Last year when Faith did it, she did update the first post with the most recent stuff.   Maybe it was done differently in previous years?  Last year was my first time with college applicants, so I never paid attention before that.  I guess to do it this way you have to have someone volunteer to keep the first post updated, so thanks for volunteering. :)

I'm just reading along this year (although looks like I may have a transfer student so may end up adding something in another month or two :) )

Honorary dd is going around these days half the time in Alma hoodies and half the time in Wolverine. She grins from ear to ear!

It warms my heart.

Her grandparents are falling all over themselves because she invited them to accompany her to the scholars summit at Alma. If she does well there, I think with the need based aid she will get, a scholars scholarship, her half ride base scholarship, and a little help here and there from them, she will be able to attend but if not UMF will be just fine for her.

They are so excited, and intellectually I am thrilled that they are stepping into this role. But in my heart, flip flopping just a little as dh and I fade out of primary counselor roles in her life. It is a necessary transition. So healthy for her. But some days I feel like one of my own grew up and is leaving the nest.

12 couch surfing young adults have come and gone. 10 successfully launched. One still a wandering soul and one ended his own life after he moved on, a hole that can never, ever be filled. I am so glad our time as defacto mom and dad is ending so positively.

Truth be known. I am tired. I realize that it is time to pass on the baton. It is so hard though. Very hard. I see the pain out there, the young people in need of someone to not give up on them, to care, to get involved. But I also recognize that I need to recharge my batteries so to speak.

Anyway. Go HDD!!! (Hoping she becomes a nice tartan, plaid, Scot!)

Please don't apologize! I am sorry if I made it sound that way. You are so awesome at this and I thought bumping the thread with that link will be helpful for the future. Thank you so much again for doing this scoutermom! (grateful hugs)

And I am sorry it took a while to reply. We were on the road!

You didn't 'sound' any way; I read most people's posts in a neutral voice so no worries. I didn't want anyone to think I was leaving their announcements out on purpose. This is so much fun. I enjoy watching the list grow. :D

Updated through 2/6/17     :D

I'm pretty sure I've missed scholarship info from the other thread. Please post on this thread and I'll update.

It got buried in the other thread -  DD has a merit scholarship and is in the Honors college at Chapel Hill. You don't have to add it above, but if you like to keep track of such things for a final tally or something then there ya go ;)

Do you prefer updates here or in the other thread.  I am a little confused by this and apologize if I put it in the wrong place.

I don't know. I had been updating from the other thread but it went down a long rabbit trail. If people want to post their updates on this thread that would be great. I will just add the info to the list in the OP.  I will try to keep up with new updates in the other thread as well.

DS has been accepted to the University of Alabama at Huntsville with a Charger Distinction scholarship and Tennessee Technological University with merit and departmental scholarships. Such an exciting time!

Just toured TN Tech with my 2018 grad last week. We really liked it and such a great value. Congrats!
