Easy C'mas ornament/craft/gift for DC to make ~50 of?

I know there are loads of ideas for "easy" ornaments online, but I'm looking for something that we could make to bring to the nursing home. DS will play piano and my DDs will pass out a little "gift" to anyone who stops (I expect a lot will, since my DCs are little and always get lots of attention when we are there other times).

It seems best to give them something "consumable" since I'm sure they don't want clutter, yet I'm also not sure that give elderly folks food gifts is a good idea either.

Oh, and would, of course, prefer to not spend a ton of time or money...

So... any ideas?

We've made lots of origami Christmas ornaments in the past. If you google origami Christmas ornaments, you'll see quite a few do-able hits.

ETA: you can use old catalogs/ gift wrapping paper/ magazine paper etc so cost can be zero to minimal.

One year my kids made a large number of those dough ornaments made of glue and spices for their classes at PS - cinnamon and nutmeg, I think. But I've also had my kids color paper ornaments with ribbon hangers (there are many free printables online) to hand out at the nursing home or holiday coloring sheets, but that's hard to do in quantity.

We just cranked out 50 applesauce cinnamon ornaments in about 20 minutes.  You just mix equal amounts of applesauce and cinnamon to make dough, then roll it out on a heavily floured surface and cut out with cookie cutters.  Use a straw to make holes to tie a ribbon.  They do take a couple of days to dry and harden, or you can bake them at a low temp for about an hour or more.

The best part is that your house smells incredible!

Felt ribbon candy. They're quick and easy to make with a hot glue gun and very inexpensive. You just need two or three colors of felt, cut into 1" wide strips, so you can make several from each piece. Then you just fold them accordion-style or roll the strips and hot glue as you go. Add a simple loop, and you're good to go.
