3girls4me
Has anyone ever used this for 7th grade? I really want to focus on literature and writing next year and take a break from Rod and Staff for just one year. I'm worried that going back to R&S for 8th grade would be hard if we've slacked off for a year but I think it would do us good. We've used R&S since 3rd grade for grammar. I love it, but in an effort to simplify and go deeper in certain areas next year, grammar may need to take the backseat for a bit. Thoughts? mschickie
We used parts of it for 7th. It is really a complete grammar course. You could always do something like the Daily Grams for a year to just do review. Another good option is the Language Mechanic from the Critical Thinking company. Easy Grammar was our favorite. If your dc has been doing R&S English for six years, I don't think taking a year off of grammar would be a big deal. In fact, if your dc does Easy Grammar Plus, along with the six years of R&S English, it's probable that y'all will never need to do grammar again. :-)
....
Two of my kids used it for 7th grade. It was one of the most painless grammar programs we've used. They both did it on their own and I checked their answers.
MerryAtHope
I used it for 6th and 8th, and would use it again. Enjoy the break from R & S (or, as Ellie said, you may not really need grammar again. High school is more about applying what they know to writing). BTW, Ellie, nice new avatar!

lmrich
I did. AND I recommend taking a year off Rod and Staff. The preposition approach is unique and quite effective. I paired Easy Grammar Plus with Fix-It so we could keep up with clauses, and both only take about 15 minutes a day. If you use Fix-It - teach it, don't just let your kid do it all on their own. I think that is why people do not have success with it.
