I don't need to do this, right?

Recommended Posts

I recently submitted a letter of intent. Today, I received the IHIP form along with this statement from the Superintendent:

"I will ask Dr. John Smith, the principal of Your Local High School, to meet with you to review both the implementation and assessment of the education plan for DD." and "Dr. John Smith may be reached at (123) 456-7890. Please contact his office to arrange a meeting as soon as possible."

Please, help me in wording a response!

I want to sound polite, but also get across the point that I will not meet with the principal.

Thank you in advance!!  :)  :)  :)

If that's required in NYS, somebody better tell the homeschool office here in NYC! I don't know how to tell them to eff off (politely) but it's not a legal requirement.

Ok, thank you. I re-read the regulations even though I already knew this wasn't required. Just needed another homeschooler to back me up.  :thumbup1:

I wouldn't go out of your way to be combative, but I'd just write back and say thank you for their interest, but you've read the regulations, you know it's not required, you won't be needing the principal's assistance. And then attach a copy of the regulations. And maybe tell your statewide group that this happened.

If it was an email, I might write back, " Thank you for the offer, but we don't need any asssistance at this time." If it was paper mail, I would ignore it. He is basically counting on you to reach out to Dr. Smith. Just don't. Dr. Smith will probably inform him of the law.

Thank you both! This is exactly the wording I was looking for.  :hurray:
