Reefgazer
I love my makeup primer - Arbonne silicone-based primer. But it's $45/ounce and I am looking for something less expensive. What are your favorite makeup primers that are silicone based and more reasonably priced?

lanalouwho
Monistat is what I use too. Same primary ingredients, but about 65% cheaper. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk

Reefgazer
Wow, I had no idea. So this is just a silicone gel, no ingredients to damage facial skin? Monistat is what I use too. KungFuPanda
Monistat chafing gel. Really. This is no joke. It's near the women's products at Target or a drugstore. It's maybe $5 for a tube that lasts for ages. It's a gel that feels silky and dry as it goes on. You'll be angry that you paid so much before. I use it as a primer for stage make-up and I've had the same tube for years. Eta: it's actually anti-chafing gel and the tube is purple. LadyR
I just bought NYX Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer. It got great reviews, but I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet except for a small test spot. I think I'll like it.

I couldn't find the ingredients on the package, but I had 2 and 4 year olds clubbing each other with an Elena of Avalor scepter. http://www.target.com/p/monistat-chafing-relief-powder-gel-1-5-oz/-/A-14774551

Miss Tick
I opened the thread looking for a make-up "PRIME-er". Learned something new, though!
MSNative
Wow! I use and love Younique primer. To pp who asked what the heck primer does- makes my skin super soft, makes makeup last longer and spackles in the wrinkles a bit. never heard of using monistat. Will def check my primer ingredients with it. Learn something new all the time on these boards! MSNative
Ladies who use monistat as primer- do you ever use it in your hair? I like my current primer cause I can take what's left on my hands and tame fly away and frizzy hair. any word on how monistat works on hair?
KungFuPanda
What is makeup primer? It's like paint primer. You smooth it on your skin. It gives you a smoother canvas for applying make-up so it goes on nicer. It keeps the make-up in place better and keeps it from absorbing into your skin so much. It makes it a little harder to sweat off and a little easier to remove later.
1GirlTwinBoys
I read about using Monistat YEARS ago.
HappyCrazyMama
I use Avon's skin perfecter. I sell Avon so I haven't tried anything else :p, but I do love it and it's not expensive.
crazyincolorado
I use It Cosmetics No. 50 Primer Serum. It's $48/ounce so no better in price. I do also have the Nivea aftershave as well, and it does work fine. It works better than a lot of drugstore primers, well worth the $5 or so.
redsquirrel
I've also been using the Monistat gel for years. And it really works at it's intended purpose as well, lol. I use it on my heels when I run and it stops me from getting a blister. I have a particular sports bra that has a seam that rubs under my arm, but the gel makes that stop. And if I'm wearing a dress on a sweltering day a little between my thighs means that I don't get heat rash or irritation when I walk. Primer helps you get that smooth poreless look when you wear makeup. I mostly find it useful for keeping my makeup in place. I put it on and it disappears, I have no idea why. But primer helps that not happen.
school17777
Do you still put on moisturizer if you use primer?
Reefgazer
It goes underneath your foundation to make your foundation looks smoother ther. At my age, I need something to fill in all the nooks and crannies and pores before I layer of the foundation. Actually, primer allows me to use a lot less foundation make up for some reason. What is makeup primer?
Reefgazer
Yes, the moisturizer goes on first, after I get out of the shower, followed by the primer, followed by the foundation. Do you still put on moisturizer if you use primer?
Seasider
I've used smashbox and like it. I just buy the sample size when I see it (like at Sephora checkout in the promo bins). The small size lasts a looooong time.
