Janeway
The kids would love to put up a tree now. LOL...we have put up the green garland around the stairs now. I was thinking we could add orange and brown things to it..like..art projects or making construction paper crafts to hang on it all. I am thinking I will at least wait until November for the tree. But would this be totally terrible if I let them put out the tree too? Or should I limit it to the green garland on the stairs for now? lol
regentrude
Not terrible - but a live tree won't make it to Thanksgiving. I assume you mean a fake one? The one drawback I can see : I'd be sick of it by Thanksgiving and would want to put it away. I like space. itsheresomewhere
Do it. I know someone who had a season tree. For fall- it has pinecones, acorns, beautiful colored leaves and art projects. They started this for her one child who has some health issues and have carried it on. Do it and make some memories. For thanksgiving- make some art projects and have some blank circles or whatever shape you all agree on and write what you are thankful for.
Janeway
I think I will compromise and leave the Garland on the steps and let them decorate that, and then bring out the tree the week of Thanksgiving and not make them wait until the day of. Carol in Cal.
Our harvest trees are outside--a Fuyu persimmon whose fruit looks like miniature pumpkins, and a Wonderful pomegranate. For the harvest season we decorate inside with pumpkins, baskets of winter squash, and Indian corn, sometimes a cornucopia or big basket or wooden bowls holding some of it.
SKL
For years, we had our [fake] tree up all year - never took it down at all. It would still be up if we hadn't had our carpets replaced. :P It was nice, always festive, brightened up the room. It was decorated with small picture frames containing photos of my kids at different ages, handicrafts from different countries - things that are fun to look at any time. :) So I say, put up the tree whenever you want to (assuming it's not alive). You may have more time to enjoy the process now vs. in the holiday rush. Whatever works.
