Bracks Magnetic Construction Toys

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm the creator of Bracks Magnetic Construction Toys. Bracks are made of poplar wood, are "minimally processed," and have no coatings or varnish. There are a few things that make Bracks unique vs. anything else on the market. Bracks have a variety of connectors to make various connections between the panels and planks. These connectors may be used in a variety of standard ways and also encourage the builder to think of new ways to use them for a needed connection. They also are very "playable," meaning that your child can actually play with the structures using action figures, small dolls, or toy cars - the structures are pretty strong. Also, just this morning, we introduced our new "Framer's" sets, which are a larger scale and have pre-framed doors with pull knobs, garage doors with pull knobs, and windows built into the panels.

We will be posting several videos on our website in the next week to demonstrate some common building techniques, and to let people see Bracks in action.

Thanks for your interest, and if you have more questions I can answer, please ask.

Nice to meet you, Tom!

I do have a question (because these look great for my kid) - the pieces all have circles of wood in them.  Are these simply glued in to hold the magnets?  If so, what would be the life expectancy of the glue, and do you offer replacements/repairs if they do come apart?

ETA: Nevermind. :)  I went poking around on the site more and found my question answered at the bottom of the product FAQ.  http://www.clickclackbracks.com/faqs

Hi, HomeAgain. Yes, the magnets are glued in on the bottom and around the entire perimeter, and then more glue is applied to the top and the wooden disc is glued on top. As you might have seen in the FAQs section of the website, they have undergone physical and mechanical testing at an independent third-party lab pursuant to the CPSIA. In a non-scientific setting, I have tested them myself by banging them with a hammer, digging into them with a screwdriver, and throwing them against the floor and wall over and over again, and the magnets aren't affected whatsoever. Even using a screwdriver, the magnets are very difficult to get out. I would not want a dog to gnaw on them, however. Eventually, I suppose, the dog could crack a piece open and chew enough to dislodge the magnet from its housing. And you certainly don't want a human or animal to swallow a magnet - very, very dangerous, as the website warns repeatedly.

And, yes, we offer a 100% lifetime guarantee on all pieces. That's not really to guarantee the magnet spontaneously dislodging - I'm not particularly worried about that - it's more for if you step on a piece and accidentally break it. The wood, of course, will break if stepped on or bent too far, like any thin piece of wood. But in any case, I'll send you a new replacement piece for free.

Thanks for the questions and the interest.
