Saxon: What are the broad stroke differences in "Course" books vs. "X/X" books?

Recommended Posts

Looking for magic beans and thought we might give Saxon a try for my math-hating 7th grader...

I found the "Course 1," "Course 2" and "Course 3" work-texts online for free and my understanding is that they match up roughly to Saxon's older 7/6, 8/7, Algebra 1/2 series.

Can anyone offer any other insight about the differences in these two programs, besides the fact that the Course books are newer (2012)?

Thanks!!

The Course books have a different scope and sequence

They are less user friendly for the homeschool mom because they don't have the soluttions manual with the tiny numbers and all that.

They are more expensive.

For most homeschoolers it makes sense to use the regular revised Saxon that you can get at Rainbow or CBD

The only benefit I can see are the workbooks that go ing with them. Edited by Tiramisu
