GeoKitty
Hi, We have been through the Town and Voyage levels, and are currently doing the Magic Lens 1 level (plan on doing all components). My daughter wants to continue with the two higher levels, but there aren't many reviews. Has anyone here used them? We will definitely continue with WWTW 2 and 3. But are the other books worth the money and time? Can anyone review the differences in each step up? Thank you.
Mike in SA
Can't really give a detailed analysis of the differences in each level, but we have used all of them. Generally the last three are very similar to one another, but each pass adds additional depth. Magic Lens is good; the practice gets annoying but is essential; WWW is very repetitive, but over 3 years, that's fine; same for poetry. The essay books need to be rewritten. We couldn't use them. We paired with Killgallon and private essay tutoring, but something like Bravewriter would work well. For younger DS, we are using G3 for additional literature and writing. GeoKitty
Thank you. So, it sounds like it is worth it to you Mike in SA. :-) We actually use many different things for writing, and we have been using some of MCT literature program as well. My DD wants to learn to diagram, for fun, but I think I can do that over a few weeks. I'll look into G3!
GeoKitty
Has anyone else used those upper two levels, or have any advice? Thx
Clemsondana
We're just starting the MCT books, but I thought I'd let you know that Growing with Grammar has a 'Digging into Diagraming' book - it's a single book focused on diagramming. We haen't used it yet, but it might be something that your daughter would like if she wants to diagram for fun.
GeoKitty
Thanks ClemsonDana… I'll look into that book! Part of me wants to continue with the whole series, DD loves it…. the other part wants to just do their vocab, some diagramming, and let DD get into more solid literary analysis and composition.
