So is Groupon still bad?

I haven't used them in several years after a bad experience. It involved a "deal" with a local contractor to do handyman work. I had trouble with both the local contractor and Groupon and eventually got a refund.

There's one that I'm sorely tempted on that would save me $100, but I'm not up for a hassle either.

We use it all the time. We've never had a bad experience. I have heard of a few people that had problems when a small business got in over their heads and weren't prepared for the influx of customers, but those who were affected did get refunds. When sticking with reputable companies I've never heard of people having issue. Go for it, and have fun!

I've had great experiences with both Groupon and Living Social for restaurants, attractions, events, etc. My only disappointing experience was with service providers. Three times I tried a groupon or similar type of deal to try out a cleaning service, and was disappointed every time...but that has less to do with Groupon and more to do with the service providers themselves. I think Angies's list or personal referrals is a more reliable way to find a good service provider.

I use groupon a lot -- in fact we're using a groupon purchased tripped to Ireland this month! We are fans of Groupon. I've never really had a problem with any of them!

I would love to know how that goes!  I've seen the trips on there but have been afraid.

My friend uses Groupon all the time for other things and no bad experiences.

I've used Groupon several times without problems. There was another company that did something similar I did have a problem with (what I received wasn't the size offered in the deal and I had to pay return shipping to get a refund. Unfortunately, the return shipping cost as much as the item, so I didn't bother returning it.)
