caedmyn
Do you notice a difference in daytime behavior when a child uses a weighted blanket at night, or does it only help with nighttime issues?
Lecka
We have never done a weighted blanket, but for sensory things your kids might use the item for a break during the day, and it could help during and after the break. I don't think it would necessarily "last" all day. Getting a good night's sleep I do think would help all day.
mamashell
Do you notice a difference in daytime behavior when a child uses a weighted blanket at night, or does it only help with nighttime issues? Anything that calms the senses helps give the individual more spoons the rest of the day. I regret waiting so long to invest in one for my son. I bought him one made of fabric from one of his special interests on one side and plush on the other. He uses it during the day on his own as needed as well as every night.
PeterPan
I bought beads on ebay to make one and haven't gotten it done. You can make them sleeping size, but you can also make smaller pads to put on their lap. I think I saw some once shaped like a turtle. Sometimes my ds just really needs weight for his system to calm. And I think some as a routine is fine, but sometimes he needs it intensely. I think they have charts on the recommended weights.
Citrusheights5
We have one for my son. It is a small lap sized one, and it helps him remain seated, and calm. But we never use it at night.

But we never use it at night. Ooo, that's a good idea! Like I had seen those, but I'm thinking I should up-prioritize getting that done! :D What are the dimensions on yours? Citrusheights5
Been crazy in the house lately, sorry!! , the one we have is 18x 24. It's small, but it provides that extra "step" to think of getting up before getting up. He actual sat through entire meals with this!!
PeterPan
I remember those days of him not sitting through meals! Now we're always out for sports, oops. He just asked for his tape. We hadn't done that in quite a while. That's very calming too.
