LifeLovePassion
What program do you use? Any good "any book" sort of teachers pay teachers resources? I'd like something flexible so that I could adapt it to any book.
Emba
At some point I ran across a free download to make your own book discussion guide. Unfortunately ii have no idea where it was, but you might try googling "write your own book discussion guide"or similar. Sorry I can't be of more help. mamamoose
You should check out the Socratic method. I think the book I used is called teaching the classics--but it's a great resource and if you use it you won't need any other lit instruction guide ever. ScoutTN
Love Teaching the Classics. We don't use literature curriculum. My 5th grader just read lots and sometimes we discussed.
HomeAgain
We liked Moving Beyond The Page. Litwits came out soon after, and their ideas are often great, too.
regentrude
No program. we just read books. And talk about books. Which shows very quickly whether the kids comprehend or not.
mamamoose
If you're concerned, Reading Detective is. Good way to assess and help a student do more critical reading too. :)
