Instant Pot question

Depends on your definition of very small. :) I put in a huge, whole pork shoulder in the crock pot for 12-14 hours. I'd probably cut that size up or choose a smaller one for the pressure cooker (especially because mine is the 6 qt model), and I'd set it for at least 75 minutes and let the pressure release on its own. Altogether time in the pot would be 2ish hours counting coming to pressure and releasing the pressure.

What are the recipes you typically make in the slow cooker? The Instant Pot also has a slow cooker function.

Yes and no...

I've had mine since right before last Christmas-- I have not plugged my crock pot in since.

I don't use the same recipes I did in the crock pot-- many are similar, and most are better (IMHO).

This morning I'm going to boil eggs in my IP-- not too much of a time saver (6 minutes then at least 3-4 at natural release), but the eggs will peel perfectly and will be fluffy inside.  Tomorrow I will cook a whole chicken (25 minutes in IP plus natural release-- so about an hour total).  The meat will be tender and fall off the bone.  The flavor will be distributed all the way through... I'll cook the bones a bit longer with some veggies and make stock for a chicken-vegetable soup... I'll also make chicken enchiladas and a chicken salad.  Thursday I will make some black beans (12 minutes) and probably some small potatoes...

I use my IP several times a week-- great flavors/food, easy to clean and in most cases saves time.  DH also likes the fact it does not 'stink up' the house like cooking all day in a crock pot can.

By less time, I mean on days where I forget to put the roast in the crock pot in the morning, can I put it in the Instant Pot after lunch and have a roast that'll be really tender within 3 hours or so?

Yes this is the cool thing about it!  It is especially good for quick cooking tough cuts.

And you CAN use it as a slow cooker as well.
