wendy not in HI
We got our new college girl off to school and I think our summer of crazy is over! Whew! I heard a report on the radio this morning that gas usage is up to possibly the highest level since 2007. I'm pretty sure that was all us. We have driven a total of 9 full days this summer. In the Suburban. One of those days was like 16 hours of driving. Most have been around 12 hours. A cross country move (with both suburban and truck.) A wedding. A college drop off.... I'm ready to just curl up at home (without any company, hopefully) for the next few months! It's been wonderful and fun and full of great things, but I am ready to settle in and settle down! Monday to do: meet friend for a 5am walk unpack bags laundry make a grocery list plan dinner??? pick up package at UPS store - 9am stop in at High School to see if we can pick up schedule/get locker since we missed open house buy some school supplies buy shoes for ds, or order? do some kind of summer fun look into dance class or art class for dd check with soccer coach about practices groceries fix dinner Middle School open house Edited August 29, 2016 by wendy not in HI

SKL
Hi guys. My cold / sinus infection knocked me out last night (I probably overdid yesterday), so most of what I've accomplished today is sleep! The list: Get the kids up & off to the school bus. [done] Pet care. [done] Go back to bed for several hours. [done] Take a shower with a hair wash - to breathe in some steam. [done] Check emails and such. [done] Work. [done] Figure out what this coming weekend is going to look like. Sister wants them overnight again .... [done] A little reading. [done] A little housework. [done] Stretching? [done] Figure out how to do an international cash donation from my bank. [tomorrow?] Go over kids' school discipline policy & we all need to sign it & send back to school. [done] Kids' work - get them to dust off their band instruments and practice a bit? [nope] Kids want to swim, but we'll see.... [nope] Kids to gymnastics. Work at gymnastics. [done] Kids to bed. [done] Work. .... Writing this list has made me tired. I had better go take some more of those sinus pills so I can work. hjffkj
I'm late to the game today and have been MIA for awhile because an awful fever rolled through.our house for a good week and a half. Now that that's done I've got lots to do before we leave for the beach on Friday. So far we've: - cleaned the kitchen - installed laundry line - washed, hung clothes, and put clothes away - got school done Still to do: - get dinner started by 4 - kids clean room - help kids pack for beach trip - find wedding clothes for kids and myself for this weekend - clean my bedroom - discuss a plan with dh for house projects timeline for when we get home Edited August 29, 2016 by hjffkj

ScoutTN
School is done. Ds' chemistry demo was about sodium. Making ice cream! :) Chx is roasting. Babysitting done. Budget updated. I am steadfastly ignoring the basket of clean laundry in my bedroom. Calling my mom instead. Edited August 29, 2016 by ScoutTN
hjffkj
I'm so exhausted. Dinner is almost done, kids' room is cleaned, and their clothes for the trip are packed aside from wedding attire. I'll find wedding attire once they are in bed. After dinner I'm going to start cleaning my room and get the kids to bed. Hopefully, dh won't get home too late so we have time to plan house projects.
ScoutTN
Ds and Dh are at Cub Scouts. A quiet house is lovely. Did some AHG work. Tidied the house. Visited with neighbors. Ordered dog food. Put chx carcass in the crock pot for stock. Started the dishwasher. Had an interesting conversation with Dd about why fairy tales are often dark and/or have sad endings. Dd and I made an unsuccessful errand run. Have to find my items tomorrow. I am going to bed to read. SO tired today. Too many carbs makes me crash hard late in the day. But they were the food that would settle my stomach... 'night, y'all. :seeya:
SKL
Not a bad day, considering how it started. I started feeling better around the time the kids were coming home from school. Finished enough work to keep the dogs at bay for another day. I actually fixed a hot sit-down dinner at home today. Something I don't often manage between work, homework, and sports. Granted, it involved the freezer and the microwave. But still. :P I plan to make this more of a reality for us this year. (Even some "real" cooking on weekends to eat during the week.) The kids had a lot of homework today, and on top of that, I had to sit and read the many pages of discipline and technology and homework policies which we all had to sign in 4 or 5 places. :P Feels like a serious legal document. The kids brought home some info about the school sports schedule. There are two options: 1. yes, I want my kid to play and I understand I must "volunteer." 2. no, my kid can't play. If my kids play, I have to volunteer not only at their games, but also at the 7th/8th grade games. I think that stinks, but whatever. It doesn't seem to be a ton of work, though this is in addition to the other volunteering we're already doing for scouts and just because. Oh well. At least I now have dates to work with. Practices are Tuesday right after school and Sunday afternoons, and games are Saturday mornings. I think I can deal with that. I also had to pay $40 for 2 team shirts. And I hear they need knee pads, so I need to look into that. Planned for my sister to take my kids on Saturday night. I really would rather have the whole weekend with them for a change, but they were excited to be invited to this other person's house to go swimming and see their kids and dogs. I am trying to remember the last time I had the kids home all weekend. Oh well, at least this is a 3-day weekend, so I will still get them for 2 days. :)
Shred Betty
It was an awesome "official first day" of homeschool ever! We did a handful of cute "first day" things - all of which DD7 keeps trying to tell me she loved SO much she wants them every day now :) Walked "to school" (around the neighborhood and back) with new backpack and shoes. I picked her a bouquet for our school table. Pics with s sign first day of grade 2. Even the principal showed up at the door to greet us (DH). Lol She got a lot of work done! Best part (for me) was no fighting over TV and screen time choices. WWE, WWE, FLL, SMath subtraction, ZB Handwriting, AAS, SOTW read & map, independent reading, BFSU review game, 5 walks throughout the day phew! Now tomorrow, the first day of public school, we are taking the day off and spending it on the boat. First day of no public school party!
