MamaBearTeacher
I have a purse with an outer layer made of very thin nylon (thinner than a windbreaker). It is light purple but the outside has become very dirty all over, not stains, just dirt. I was going to throw it out but I really like it and if I can salvage it I would like to keep it for travel. Last time I tried spot cleaning it with dish soap, water and a terry cloth washcloth it did not get any cleaner. Should I douse it with liquid laundry detergent and wash it in the washing machine? Is there some really effective way of cleaning this?
Jen500
I have washed nylon handbags in my washing machine with some success.
wapiti
Try pouring on liquid laundry soap and scrub with a dish brush (the kind with plastic bristles), in the kitchen sink. I had some luck doing this to backpacks that weren't getting visibly clean in the washing machine.

zoobie
Stick it in a pillow case and wash on gentle. Line dry. Nothing to lose by trying! :)
TechWife
Put it in the washing machine then air dry it. I have done several things made of nylon this way. I use regular detergent and spray 'n wash on spots, if needed. If you were going to throw it away, you have nothing to lose by trying.
