Has anyone eaten this in any part of the Middle East, South Asia, or Southeast Asia? Sweet or savory? I stumbled on the dough for this and I'm so curious about it. There's a pastry shop in Jerusalem that's been making it for 150 years, it's a common street food in the Gulf, and it's apparently all over South and Southeast Asia. There are a lots of different stories about its origin, although it seems there's a good case to be made for a Middle Eastern origin. Do you know anything at all about this food?

(It's a stuffed pastry made from really thin dough or phyllo filled with anything from sweet cheese to spicy meat.)

Sweet and savoury but more on the savoury. The dough is the same as roti prata. The one I love is the one filled with minced mutton.

Is it considered to be an Indian dish in Singapore?
