EKS Posted August 25, 2016 Share Posted August 25, 2016 There is the text Big History: Between Nothing and Everything. I would use it with the Big History lectures from the Teaching Company. The stuff on the website is also good--but IMO, it is not worthy of a high school credit. The Teaching Company (also called The Great Courses) Big History course is on TGCPlus and I'm considering using it next year for..... History? Science? What would it be listed under? We're going to finish it, but then follow it up with some world history lectures from The Teaching Company, though probably not The Big History ones. I like that it is giving us a different perspective than what is typically taught in WH, but I'd also like to cover a lot more of what is typically taught in a WH course. Quite a bit of the course is focused on science, but from what I have read, a number of school systems are using it as a WH credit. They were required to have the text from this site, though the teacher used many resources. http://worldhistoryforusall.sdsu.edu/book_announcement.php At home, I paired it with additional more traditional World History related reading and documentaries. He was required to do various essays and projects for class and it was year long. I did assign a WH credit for his work.
