JadeOrchidSong
Dc will take TPS Narnia, WHA FOEW, La Clase Divertida, and Clover Creek physics. Do your dc use webcam for live online classes? Should I get one? Thanks!
G5052
Ask the schools. I know that Wilson Hill encourages it because there are times that the students will share in class, but I'm not sure about the others.
crazyforlatin
Not for Clover Creek or La Clase, though Gamache encourages it if it's your turn to speak. My computer has a built-in camera so I didn't have to buy a separate one.

JadeOrchidSong
So I found this page on Amazon. Which do you own if you bought one? https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=webcam&tag=geminimobiles-20&index=aps&hvadid=22390918&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=e&hvdev=t&ref=pd_sl_11q82tri1n_e
Arcadia
The cheapest Logitech HD 720p version works for us. Our laptops all have in built webcams so we already gave our old one away. It was less than $30.ETAThis one is the newer version of ourshttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B004YW7WCY/ Edited August 9, 2016 by Arcadia
G5052
DD and I both have Logitech C270's that are actually a few years old. Never had a problem with them.
RootAnn
DD hasn't had one & won't have one this year. She's taking classes from several different providers (including WHA & Sr Gamache). She prefers NOT to be on camera, so we won't be buying one just to have one. We did nix a provider that required a webcam for class (Kolbe), but that wasn't the sole reason for eliminating them. Ds13 doesn't like to be on camera either, so we will skip it for now.
C_l_e_0..Q_c
Kolbe never requires a student to be on webcam/video. Audio yes, video never that I've seen. And we've taken many many classes Edited March 27, 2017 by C_l_e_0..Q_c
RootAnn
re: Kolbe The requirements listed on their webpages included a webcam for at least one of the two classes I looked at for this school year. While the individual teachers might not use them, the requirement was stated. I believe I also asked in an email and was told that some classes required it. That may have changed since last year. I haven't bothered to look since then. ETA: I did a very quick check. Here is a link to at least one page that lists a webcam as required: http://www.kolbe.org/academics/courses-and-curriculum/online/technical-requirements/ I will say that WHA's Fundamentals of Expository Writing doesn't state that a webcam is required, but there is a presentation that the kids do that requires the student to be on camera. I don't know what happens if you don't have access to one. There have been a few other times when the teacher has requested that kids show work on the webcam, but not everyone has. I don't think it has affected their grade. I wanted to update that, since this thread popped back up.
