Janie Grace
If you have seen both, which do you think was better? Trying to pick a movie for a big group of family members, from a 6-year-old to grandparents.
sassenach
Haven't seen the BFG, but my family universally disliked Secret Life. Tarzan was a surprise hit for us.
gingersmom
I liked Secret Life of Pets better.
SparklyUnicorn
I want to see both. And Tarzan. I probably won't because too expensive.
alisoncooks
Good question! We're about to go on beach vacation...and we always end up watching a movie. These are our two big contenders! (Although, we also haven't seen Finding Dory yet, either....)

ebrindam
BFG hands down! It was awesome!
Night Elf
We enjoyed The Secret Life of Pets more. There was more action and funny stuff. But The BFG was sweet. The book wasn't as sentimental as the movie. We had to see The BFG last night because they're pulling them out of our theaters this weekend. Today is the last day. I guess it just wasn't doing well. 8circles
I haven't seen both but based on my dh and kids, BFG is way better. I fell asleep during secret life of pets.
Mrs_JWM
My daughter liked both, but recommends Secret Life for a group with lots of kids. We saw BFG with grandparents and they liked it, but they would have been okay the other one, too, I think. ☎ Sent from my rotary phone ☎
sheryl
A neighbor, DD and I went to see Secret...Pets. It was "ok". I like the idea but feel it is way not appropriate for young kids. A reference or inference (but I think there was mention of it, so reference) was made of people being blended in a blender. What the ????? In the end the message was good - resolving conflict to get along with others that are on the opposite side of the tracks. No pun intended. But, overall I would not recommend it. enchantedhome
Loved the BFG! Beautiful to look at and very charming. I thought the Secret Life of Pets had a great premise but it ended up feeling a bit more crass, violent, and icky than it needed to be. Barb_
Secret life of pets was only mildly entertaining and not at all what I was expecting. Clever only in places. It's like somebody well-paid came up with all the movie trailer bits and then a group of high school boys wrote the rest.
Peaceful Isle
BFG was so sweet. I took my son to see it because it is one of his favorite books. I left the theater feeling warm and fuzzy , not confused, like I do sometimes with all the new cartoony ones. They have so much crood crass stuff in them sometimes. We still go see tons of movies, but BFG is my ultimate favorite so far.
