Accountability Thread: 7/17-7/23

Recommended Posts

I just realized I forgot to start the thread this morning! :svengo:

I have had a very productive day. The family and I went out exploring a new water area, complete with waterfall and beautiful little deep swimming hole below. We played nearly all morning, swimming in the cold water and sitting under the fall and just communing with nature.

I'm writing this evening and really making progress on the novel. So a good time was had by all, and we'll do school tomorrow.

Yay!! My day was standard. I did have a wonderful time at church!

Hard to get back to work after such a nice day yesterday. But the schedule is done for the day, so I'll crack the whip in about an hour and get the day going.

French-none today

Latin-keep working on lesson 24

Math-quiz, 1 page Key to Decimals

Grammar/Comp-New spelling list, exercise in KISS grammar on plural formation--good review, and finish lesson 10 in Grammar of Poetry

History-Cp 2 in Arkansas State History, continue, narration instead of question today, because the section lends itself well to narration; read cp 9 in La Salle

Science-Cp 2, section on Glaciers and Icebergs (kind of ironic given the weather outside!), answer questions, continue reading in Minn of the Mississippi

Literature-continue reading As You Like It

Art-project on using pencils soft to hard--I'm giving them two art sessions for this project

For me: Latin, Geometry, Writing, Housekeeping.

MrsR-sp glad you guys are feeling better!

Critter-how's the kitty doing? So glad you guys had a fun day, I know you needed it after working.

Nothing much here today just piano lesson and me reading.

So, when is everybody's start date for school? Are you ready? What do you have left to do if anything?

Yes, we are so glad to be healthy again. It was 2 weeks from when dd first got sick til I was feeling better, with the boys sick in between.

Dd will have off Aug 22- Sept 5. No math or anything. Then we'll start 3rd grade and kindergarten on Sept 6.

Am I ready? Nope. Not even close. I don't even have all my pieces purchased yet! My goal is to spend an hour per day minimum on planning during the month of August.

Back from the kitty's eye appointment. Things look good. For now. Story of my life. Kitty has an odd eye condition where she has viral issues and autoimmune issues. It's a circus ride as to which one we are treating from week to week.

Hi, ladies, just checking in with all of you Accountability People. ;)

We're on summer break, and that's a good thing. I may need to have my gallbladder removed, so if that is the case, I hope the surgery happens before September. It is what it is, KWIM? Actually, if it's a "simple" matter of my gallbladder needing to come out, then I will be relieved at this point.

The girls are enjoying more free time, lazy days, crafting, playing, reading, napping, spending time with bunnies, and helping me cook and run the house. We still have read alouds going, of course -- a chapter book, some history, some science. Also this summer, we've been exploring the topics of puberty, personal care, human anatomy, and how babies form inside the womb. The girls have been fascinated! :)

Up next this summer:

  • Music Camp (here at home)
  • Science Camp (here at home)
  • Chess & Strategy Games (here at home)
  • Library summer events
  • Vacation Bible School #2 (last one for oldest daughter)
  • Small sewing projects (here at home, hopefully we can do this)

As you can see, we're not really going anywhere. Everything "out there" -- except VBS and the library -- costs more than what I have, times three kids. I was concerned about this, but the girls seem truly happy and content to be home. So, I can let that worry go, right?

If you pray, please pray for me. Thanks!

Today--try to get back to normal. Whatever that looks like. :tongue_smilie:

Schedule:

French-none (still out--book ordering soon, though)

Latin-last worksheet on lesson 24 (got one more lesson, and then I've got to have more Latin)

Math-Lesson 7, 1 page of Key to Decimals (still plenty of math)

Grammar/Composition-Spelling practice, KISS grammar exercise, Poetry-iambic imitation

History-finishing Chapter 2 in Arkansas State history and finishing up with La Salle, questions

Science-finishing with Freshwater section, finishing Minn of the Mississippi, questions

Literature-finishing As You Like It (video next week), then I think we are going to watch Henry V.

Art-free draw today

For me: catch up on housekeeping (yesterday's work and today's), Latin, Geometry, Writing. I am at 40K on my novel rewrite, and I want to hit 50K by Friday. So lots of writing today and tomorrow!

Sahamamama- thanks for the update! Sounds like your girls are having a great summer. I am sorry to hear about your health issues. I hope it's resolved quickly for you.

Our math marathon is going well. Staying on target for that 2 week break. Piano has been especially fun too. Breaking into challenging techniques is fun.

DD, while still on antibiotics, started running a fever again and has a very red throat. I guess it's back to the doctor tomorrow, since JO is NEXT WEEK and she needs to be healthy. She'll be devastated if she can't compete or does poorly because she's ill. She's worked so hard to get to this point.

In school news, we're plugging away at English and math. Everything else is just books to read.

This week has been a light week for us. The girls have been doing school on the computer this week with Reading Eggs and Mathseeds. Oldest DD finished all the lessons on Reading Eggs last night!!!!! She's also read three Bad Kitty chapter books and a couple of really thin chapter books. This is amazing in my book because there are very few books she'll pick up.

We've also been at missions camp all week.
