Weird Female Stuff...

I was hoping for some opinions. I shouldn't be able to get pregnant. I had a tubal ligation during my last c-section 12 years ago. Since then I've had VERY regular periods. Then in May I had a very light period (not like me at all) and now I've fully skipped two periods, with the exception of some pink spotting two weeks ago and some light breakthrough spotting yesterday. I took a couple of tests which were negative. I have a lot of the pregnancy type symptoms (crampy, sore back, sore breasts, so on) but again negative hpt and shouldn't be able to get pregnant. Just really confused. Oh, and I'm 34, so that seems early for menopause but...who knows? Thanks!!

Your hormones are probably just changing.

I had a tubal 7 years ago when I had Pink, and I've had crazy periods off and on since then (it'll be regular for months, randomly late, randomly light, randomly horribly heavy, and now I have cramps like I used to when I was a teenager and I'm anemic).  Our bodies just change a lot.  It is what it is.

I'd be horrified if I were pregnant now.  Ugh.   :svengo: <<that would be me  :leaving:

Do you not have any sort of clinic near you where you can go at a lower cost?  We don't have insurance either, and that's what we do.  What we have around where I live is rare from what I've heard, but we have a few options and you may want to look around to see if you have anything similar:

1. many of the doctors in the area are affiliated with a particular hospital.  Teaching/university hospitals in particular.  And most hospitals around us have a sliding scale of payment depending on how much your income is - it can be a bit of a pain to fill out the paperwork and send in the income stuff, BUT it is worth it for the discounts.  So I don't have to worry about going to the ER for something at the local hospital, and DH could get his knee surgery without us feeling like we'd be taking on a HUGE amount of bills; whatever is owed can be put on a payment plan.  My urologist is at a university hospital about an hour from us, and they do the same thing.

When I had all the kids, I did so at a different university hospital an hour in the other direction.  Also a sliding scale, tons of doctors who work within the system because there are the attendings, the residents, etc.  Even the kids' opthamologist is related to that health system; it's also where Pink was in the NICU after birth.  Had we been at a lesser hospital, she would have been moved there either way, so I'm glad we were already there.  It's one of the two best NICUs in the state, and those two are the only two who do the procedure she needed to live.  The other top one is where my urologist is.  :)

2. We have a Health Center for Women and Families that is geared toward this exact situation.  They also do the sliding scale and you pay a copay when you visit, based on your income, and that's all you ever pay them.  My copay to them is $50 and it covers any and all tests, etc.  They have copays as low as $0 - not sure how high they go.

Anyway, just trying to help come up with some ideas.  Since we don't have insurance either, I finally started going to this HCWF as my PCP earlier this year - I had my first GYN exam since Pink was born, had lots of tests run, and got put on medication for my blood pressure.  All necessary stuff!!  And I didn't have to pay much of anything for it.
