Dear Forum Folk,

For years, parents have been telling me that they’d rather tackle meaty academic subjects (both for their own self-improvement and to make them better teachers) than sit through more conference workshops on family dynamics, modesty, and bread-baking.

So I’ve been working with the Well-Trained Mind Academy Dean, Julia Kaziewicz, to build the Well-Educated Mind Academy, where we will offer live, online courses for adult learners.

WEM Academy courses are designed to challenge and satisfy the intellectual curiosity of mature life-long learners. Taught by highly qualified and experienced instructors, our seminars provide home-educating parents (and all other interested adult students) with a rare opportunity to develop writing, reading, thinking, and Socratic discussion skills across a range of subjects.

Check out the course descriptions and class schedules by visiting our website: http://www.wtmacademy.com/wema-about-us/

Please note: These courses are for you, not your kids. You have to be a grown-up to enroll. I hope you appreciate that.

What great news!  You're just unstoppable, SWB, and for that I am very grateful.  :001_wub:

Texasmom, the link worked fine for me; maybe pasting or retyping the URL in your browser will work for you?

It works on my laptop, but not my phone. Weird. Safari must be glitching on me.

This sounds wonderful. Wish it had been around 10 years ago--I'm entering my last year as a home school teacher. But if the courses could be used to update a teaching credential for the Oregon public school system, that would be awesome!

Can you tell me (or point me to where I can find the information) roughly how many hours we will need to spend per week on a course, and the cost of each?  I'm interested in doing several, but I'm already doing a teaching degree, and have limited hours per week of spare time. :-)

Thanks :-)
