Other Spelling program like apples & pears?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a new spelling program for dd, 13.

She had success with apples & pears but after a year and a half of it, We are both really burnt out on the format. Like so much so that we just stopped doing it at all mid way through this year.

Any other "easy to implement" spelling programs out there that work well for dyslexic kids with lower IQs & low processing speeds/ WM? ( Toddlers here, need not too parent intensive, not a bunch of different parts, program)

Thanks!

Edited title, last one made zero sense. Oops.

We have struggled with this as well. I have looked hi and lo for a similar program and have not found it. A&P's seems to be the only spelling program working for DD. At one point we actually put it away for about 6 months before coming back to it. We are going to stick it out till the end this time.

I haven't used Apples and Pears, but Spelling You See (after 1 year) seems to be working well for my dyslexic type child.  It uses searching for and highlighting portions of words (they call them chunks) to notice how things are spelled.

Very easy to implement.  My child loves the erasable colored pencils (it's a little thing, but somehow makes it fun).

ETA:  You don't start at level A - you start at whatever level seems appropriate.  For us it was level C, but for an older child who has had success at a spelling curriculum before, it would likely be higher.  There are examples that help you see what would suit.

Here's a link to the guide for choosing a level.  http://spellingyousee.com/downloads/SpellingReadiness.pdf
