prairiewindmomma
BTW, I'd like to take this opportunity to rant on Humira for a moment. The intellectual property attorneys have created a patent chain that will mean that although it "should have" gone into generic this year, they have effectively extended the patent for another 11 years here in the US. The euro patents are set to expire in 2018. Considering the billions in profit that they've earned in the last many years on the drug, I am not excited. At some point, there needs to be a better balance between private and public interests.

prairiewindmomma
I am downright angry at how much Humira and Enbrel have gone up in cost every year. There is no justifiable reason for the increase (the ingredients do not cost substantially more) other than sheer greed and trying to shove as much profit as they can in before patents expire. Enbrel's cost per in around 1999 was $10,000ish. Now it's $42,000ish. Cost this year for Humira and Enbrel went up 10% on May 1st. It's just ridiculous. Here's a recent reuters news piece from April....before the May 1 increase. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-healthcare-drugpricing-idUSKCN0X10TH And another on how Humira had $14bn in sales last year. http://www.modernhealthcare.com/article/20160129/NEWS/160129847

mominco
I hear you,my son is on brand name drug and cannot take the generic.Insurance will not cover brand name and he needs his meds . I paid $200 on saturday for 45 days of it. Called BMS who manufactures brand name and they gave me a website for Partnership for prescription assistance https://www.pparx.org/ Here is the info about savings cards https://www.pparx.org/prescription_assistance_programs/savings_cards also scroll down to bottom of the page for more links. Top of the page has a link to get Prescription help https://www.pparx.org/gethelp Its for under insured and uninsured to get meds for nearly free depending on qualification( income and the medication) The saving card did not help us at all. HTH I did not read the entire thread so I am sorry if someone already suggested this.
Serenade
I'm waiting until mine actually goes bad. From what I've read, as long as the liquid is still clear, it will still be more than 90% effective. We do the same thing.
