vonfirmath
It has come to our attention our son needs to know his multiplication facts better. (Esp being able to come up with the answer faster and not skip counting to figure it out). Any games (particularly board or card games) that will help this out? Computer games are okay -- but we've found a lot of those on multiplication.com do not practice the multiplication part enough. (He has been playing them regularly this year and is still struggling) Edited May 23, 2016 by vonfirmath

vonfirmath
Multiplication war. Go thru the deck after each meal. He must verify the other players' products as well as his own. Very useful to have him think out loud so you can verify strategy used...he will speed up. Ex. 9x6 . Nine times six is ten times six minus one six, so that is 60-6 or 54. Or nine times six is six sixes plus three sixes, which is 36 plus 18, which is 54. Oh! We used to do this with addition. I have no idea how I forgot it. ondreeuh
Math Dash (also can be played to focus on division). We just got it and played a couple games last night. It's a lot like Sequence in that you are trying to lay down 4 in a row and block your partner ;)

KarenNC
In the end, the only thing that worked to cement my daughter's math facts was www.xtramath.org. It's free.

SparklyUnicorn
We have a multiplication war card game, Totally Tut, multiplication Bingo, and a few others that at the moment I can't seem to remember. If you want something more independent they have Learning Wrap Ups. Go to Amazon and search for multiplication games. Tons come up.
