caedmyn
My 10 YO who has some symptoms of stealth dyslexia (no formal testing) is finishing up Abecedarian's Short Level B tomorrow. She reads well above grade level, good comprehension, but struggles with decoding nonsense words and multi-syllabic words that she doesn't know (most she does know). Her spelling improved a great deal this year using a combination of studied dication + marking vowel blends and consonant blends similar to Spelling U See, and she doesn't need additional spelling help. ABCD has helped her, but she needs more practice with breaking down multi-syllabic words. I wish they had another level that was more of the same...they do have other levels but they mostly focus on suffixes and prefixes and I'm not sure if that's what she needs. Any suggestions on what to move on to for extra practice with multi-syllabic words?
Lecka
I have not used it, but Rewards is a program to look at for multi-syllable words.
samba
I second the recommendation for Rewards Intermediate. It focuses on prefixes and suffixes as the "gateway" for decoding multi-syllable words and enforcing word attack strategies. We've also used ABCD (and liked it) but we needed to try something different. Rewards has been phenomenal for helping my son move forward in his reading. ElizabethB
http://www.thephonicspage.org/On%20Reading/WellTaughtPhonicsStudent.html Also, rewards and Marcia Henry's words, cheapest from Pro Ed.
